Lisa Scandolari
Director of Lisa’s Yoga
“A teacher whose gentle
and encouraging approach to Yoga has helped her students to have and keep an open, receptive heart.”
Lisa teaches yoga as a practice of reconnecting with our wholeness. She warmly welcomes
the uniqueness of every yogi’s experience and supports students in their exploration for meaning and balance in their
lives. She loves to share the passion and awareness she has for yoga by teaching and guiding others. Lisa remembers her first yoga class as a gentle meditative class taught by an inspiring teacher
who opened a tiny doorway into her heart and over time brought great change to her life.
Lisa is a certified teacher of Sivananda Hatha Yoga and Kundalini Yoga as well as a graduate
of the Meditation Instructor Course as taught by the Willpower Institute. She has also trained extensively
in Anusara Immersions. Over the past 15 years she has studied with numerous teachers and traditions
and has been the Director of Lisa’s Yoga in St. Catharines, Ontario for the past 10 years. She was a 2010 nominee
for a YWCA Women of Distinction Award in the category of Health and Wellbeing.
She teaches classes for children, beginners, and intermediates, as well as restorative
yoga. To the enjoyment of her students Lisa also incorporates Women’s Retreats in Midland, Ontario where students
experience the Sacred Circle which focuses on ancient wisdoms and lifestyle tips along with Yoga, chanting, meditation, and
creative activities as taught by Yogi Bhajan. She also holds Gong Baths, Meditation Outings, Solstice Celebrations,
and musical concerts where attendees can meet and hear musicians who bring the sound of music to the Yogic experience. She
also invites guest teachers to her classes and is a guest teacher herself at other studios.
Lisa attends the 3HO Summer Solstice Celebration in New Mexico, where attendees from
all countries and faiths learn and work together under the science of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan. She also attends
the Toronto Yoga/Pilates Conference each year to deepen her knowledge of current teaching trends. Lisa brings her students
to the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Camp in the Laurentien Mountains in Quebec to learn from the ancient Indian roots and classical
yoga teachings.
Lisa has a great impact on her student’s lives. They are benefiting both physically
and mentally and some students, through Lisa’s mentoring have embarked on their own journey of teaching and spreading
the joy of yoga to the community.
Lisa’s passion for life is conveyed through her teachings that facilitate the healing of the spirit through
self-inquiry integrated with the application of precise alignment, meditation, visualization, and mantra. Lisa’s belief
is that the awareness between the mind and the energy centres culminate in acceptance and ultimate healing. Taking yoga off the mat, into everyday life is a primary inspiration of her teaching. She
emphasizes loving-kindness, patience and compassion as keys to a beautiful practice both on the mat and everywhere she walks.
She is eternally grateful to all of her teachers.
