Kundalini Yoga

The yoga of awareness, is a complete science that includes breath (pranayama), simple postures (asanas), mantra, meditation and long deep relaxation. Build a healthy radiant body, relax the nervous system, reduce stress, enhance the immune system, and develop inner peace. A healing practice that brings body, mind and breath into balance.

Kundalini Yoga is the Yoga of Awareness. It gives us a direct and personal experience of reality. Where there is awareness, there is the capacity for self mastery.

This ancient human technology from India uses a combination of breathing, movement, chanting, relaxation and meditation. The specific combination of exercises are like a recipe and are called a "Kriya". There are hundreds of different Kriyas. This practice helps strengthen and nourish the body, still the mind and awaken the radiance of the soul.It guides us to the truth within and is a tool for living a happy, healthy and holy life.

The Body

Stimulates and balances the Glandular system, which is responsible for our overall state of well-being. It works on the lymph system, the nervous system, the immune system, the musculo-skeletal system and the pranic body supporting us to be strong, vital, healthy , sharp and filled with radiant energy.

The Mind

Through the meditation and chanting, we develop a relationship to the mind, so instead of becoming the slave of our own negative thought patterns, we can guide the mind to serve our soul. The use of sound balances the brain and re-patterns unhealthy thought patterns allowing for layers of doubt and neurosis to peel away, revealing the stillness and love within. The practice of meditation and breath awareness is extremely practical for our day to day life. What is the one thing that never shuts off and is our constant companion? …The Mind!! So we better learn how to develop a healthy relationship with our own thoughts and mastery of the mind

The Spirit

It balances the chakra system and awakens the kundalini energy (the creative flow of Infinity that lies at the base of the spine). It gently allows for the divine radiance of the soul, the spark of God that lives inside each and every one, to rise and shine.

The Art of Sound

Music and chanting is the backbone of this practice. In Kundalni Yoga we explore and experience the transformational power of sound and mantra. (sound that cuts through the ego and transforms darkness to light). The body is the most refined instrument, and the most beautiful experience of life can come from tuning it.

It is a great thing for music lovers, musicians, and other types of performing artists (This does not mean you need to “have a good voice” or be a musician, it awakens the voice within you!)

SEVA

Through the spirit of selfless action, when we have nothing to gain and nothing to lose by not doing, performing Seva all the time to our family, and our activities, we attain that height of realization whereby our mind becomes absorbed in God. The practice of Seva becomes a path to self-realization which is the essence of yoga.

Seva should be done with no expectation of reward or even acknowledgment of the work that is done. We serve not to convert or save a soul, but simply to serve and for no other reason. No strings attached. No carrots. Make yourself invisible and do acts of kindness without expectation of return, coming from a place of love.

Five Sutras of the Aquarian Age

  • Understand through compassion, otherwise, you will misunderstand the times.
  • Recognize the other person is you.
  • When the time is on you, start and the pressure will be off.
  • There is a way through every block.
  • Vibrate the cosmos and the cosmos shall clear the path.

"Life is in balance. The swings in the mind are there to give you the experience, and to let you discover the you within you. For all those who will praise and recognize you, there may be an equal number who want to slander you. That balance and swing lets your standard be tested. You cannot hold to something external. You must find your own depth and test it, confirm it. So calamity is not bad. It is right, to test you.”

~ Yogi Bhajan
